By Spieker Promotions HARWOOD, N.D. (April 10, 2019) – The 2019 season is now underway for Lee Grosz and the Jimco Enterprises No. 4J team. Grosz kicked off the season last weekend at I-80 Speedway’s Spring Meltdown in Greenwood, Neb. with the Carpetland Nebraska 360 Sprint Car Series. The weekend got off to a great start as Grosz cruised to a heat race win on the opening night of action on Friday, April 5th.
“It always feels good to start off the year with a heat race win,” said Grosz. “I had a little pressure on me with that one because we drew really well and started on the pole. With the shows that have passing points, if you start on the pole you pretty much have to win the heat if you want to make the redraw or sometimes even make the feature. There were a lot of good cars in the heat, but we were able to pick up the win.” After starting seventh in the feature, Grosz quickly worked his way up into a battle for third and fourth. “I had a really good car and thought I had a shot at winning,” he said. “I wasn’t as patient as I probably should have been at that point in the race.” Grosz and another car were fighting for the same real estate going into turn three, which forced Grosz to pitch the car sideways to avoid making contact. The caution flew, which sent the familiar yellow and white No. 4J to the tail of the field for the restart. Following the ensuing restart, Grosz was an innocent victim in another incident, which didn’t cause serious damage to his machine, but enough to bring his night to an end. On the second night of action on Saturday, April 6th, a fourth-place effort in the heat put Grosz in the ninth starting position for the 25-lap main event. “We were okay in the feature. Right away the car was really good, but then I started struggling a bit as the race went on,” said Grosz. “Overall we are really confident in the car. It had really good speed every time we hit the track. I think we’ll get the bugs worked out now that we’ve got a weekend of racing under our belt.” Grosz scored a ninth-place finish to cap off the weekend. Tentatively, Grosz will be back in action at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa on April 20th before heading to Park Jefferson Speedway in North Sioux City, S.D. for the $10,000-to-win South Dakota Sprint Car Nationals on April 26-27th. That event will be co-sanctioned between the Nebraska 360 Sprints and the MSTS 360s. Lee and the entire team would like to thank all of their sponsors for their continued support!
