By Spieker Promotions JACKSON, Minn. (June 7, 2017) – Last weekend Lee Grosz and the Beds by Design team competed at the 39th annual AGCO Jackson Nationals. Throughout the three-night event, which brought MSTS, UMSS, and Nebraska 360 sanctions altogether, Lee finished no worse than third each night. After the first two nights, Lee was locked into a top six starting position for Saturday’s A-main. After a brief hot lap session, the crew went to work to get the car ready for the main event.
“My crew guy, Austin, said I wasn’t running turns three and four the way I should be,” said Lee. “We ended up not changing much on the car and I just kind of changed my driving style for the feature and it made a big difference. It’s really nice to have a guy who’s been around racing long enough where he can point stuff out like that. I have enough trust in him that I’ll do what he suggests.” Once the green flag flew for the A-main, Lee found himself battling with AJ Lusk and Wade Nygaard. “By the time I got by Lusk and Nygaard and back into third, the leaders were a good straightaway ahead of me,” said Lee. “I reeled them in to about 10 car lengths, but by then the race was over. After looking at Race Monitor, it looks like we were about a half second faster than them in the last five laps or so. It would have been nice to catch a yellow there. It would have been interesting since they were both running the bottom and we were fast around the top.” Lee ended up taking the checkers in third, backing up the third place finishes he recorded both Thursday and Friday night as well. “It’s always nice to get a top five, but to get on the podium all three nights feels good. It’s kind of frustrating to get three third place finishes and be so close to winning. At the same time, it’s almost a good thing to be upset with third place finishes because third is always a good finish.” Entering this weekend’s action, Lee hasn’t finished outside of the top five since April 8th at I-80 Speedway. This Friday night, Lee will be heading back to Jackson Motorplex to race with the MSTS 360 Sprints. On Saturday, the team will be heading to Knoxville Raceway to gear up for the 360 Knoxville Nationals in August. RACES: 9 WINS: 1 TOP FIVES: 8 TOP TENS: 9 HEAT WINS: 2
