Grosz ‘Parks It’ in Victory Lane at Madison Speedway! By Mike Spieker | SpiekerPromotions@gmail.com HARWOOD, ND (August 30, 2016) - Following a rough showing at the 360 Knoxville Nationals earlier in the month, the Lee Grosz Racing team took the last two weekends to regroup and rebuild for a busy stretch of racing that will soon close out the 2016 season. Their hard work and persistence has already paid off. Lee backed up his runner-up finish Friday night at Jackson Motorplex by picking up the win at Madison (MN) Speedway on Saturday with the UMSS winged sprints. “After not having a very good performance down at Knoxville, it took a little wind out of our sails but it’s good to have a weekend like we had,” said Lee. “It gets your confidence right back up there and we are definitely going to need it heading into the Jackson Nationals with the ASCS National Tour.”
Lee started outside of the front row for the main event Saturday night after picking up the win in the challenge race and redrawing the No. 2 pill. “We got a good start and took the lead right away,” continued Lee. “We made a few changes for the feature and the car was spot on, I could run just about anywhere on the track. I survived one restart with about 10 to go and some lapped traffic later in the race and ended up getting the win.” The victory was Lee’s fourth of the season and first since the weekend of July 9th when he swept the UMSS action at Cedar Lake Speedway. Friday night was the team’s last look at Jackson Motorplex before this coming weekend’s AGCO Jackson Nationals and they left with quite a bit of momentum on their side. Lee wheeled his way from fifth to second in the heat and started sixth in the feature. “The track was still pretty heavy in the feature, but we got a good start and ended up in third right away coming out of turn two.” With eight laps to go, Lee was able to track down the second place runner and make the pass. “Once I got into second I realized I didn’t have anything for the leader. The track was pretty hammer down and we needed lapped traffic to reel him in. Two yellows came out and bunched us back up, but I didn’t have anything for him, he was definitely fast.” Lee took the checkers in the runner-up position; scoring his 11th top five of the season. The team seems to be back at peak performance once again and with the Jackson Nationals on the horizon, the timing couldn’t be better. “We went back to our old standard setups we’ve been running around here and it is still working everywhere but Knoxville, obviously, but it definitely gives me that confidence back heading into this weekend,” concluded Lee.
