By Mike Spieker | SpiekerPromotions@gmail.com KNOXVILLE, IA (August 10) - A season’s worth of preparation and practice came down to a pill draw for Lee Grosz at last weekend’s 26th annual Arnold Motor Supply 360 Knoxville Nationals. Unfortunately for the Harwood, ND running that pill draw was about as bad as it could get. With 52 cars signed in on the warm, sunny evening in southern Iowa drawing a low number was crucial for time trials. Lee drew 46th out of the 52 entries, which all but doomed his qualifying run. Given the adversity, the driver of the Hi-10 Sport Center/Wesmar was able to lay down a lap of 17.127, placing him 40th quick. Lee then started the 8-lap heat race in the eighth position and was able to wheel his up to fifth, but came home just one spot shy of transferring directly on A-main. Now relegated to the B-main, Lee was slated in the 18th starting position for the 12-lap event. When the checkers flew, Lee was able to make significant process, but came home 11th which brought his night and ultimately his nationals to an end. With Lee scheduled to be starting 10th in the D-main on Saturday’s championship night, the team decided it would be in their best interest to sit the night out and save their equipment for the remainder of their hectic 2016 schedule.
